Right now, the beauty world is obsessed with simple, honest skincare — and it seems there’s always one brand in particular on pretty much every beauty enthusiast’s lips.

Enter: CeraVe.

The cult favourite Hydrating Cleanser often takes pride of place in Instagram #shelfies, while the SA Smoothing Cleanser and Moisturising Cream have plenty of celebrity fans. In other words, CeraVe is most definitely a skincare brand to have on your radar if it isn’t already.

What makes CeraVe different to others is that it’s developed with dermatologists — and it’s safe to say they know a thing or two about healthy, glowing skin. The star ingredients in each affordable product are three essential ceramides, but don’t let the skincare lingo confuse you. Ceramides are lipids (oils) found naturally in skin and are essential in supporting the skin barrier and retaining moisture. Put simply, they help to protect the skin’s natural barrier.

On top of that, CeraVe has a unique patented delivery technology, which releases active ingredients over the course of 24 hours for hydrated skin that lasts all day, so you can wave goodbye to any uncomfortable, parched patches of skin. Even better, everything is fragrance free, which makes it super gentle.

So which CeraVe products should you stockpile? Here’s exactly what a beauty editor would recommend.

CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser

If you’re a Refinery29 regular, you’ll know I can’t speak highly enough of this product, which cleanses and hydrates in one. It’s formulated for normal to dry skin, but my combination skin (prone to breakouts and dry areas) loves it. The gentle, non-foaming texture melts away makeup, oil and daily grime quickly and without stripping the skin. Instead of leaving my skin tight or uncomfortable (a downside of plenty of cleansing products) the hydrating formula makes it soft to the touch. The best part is that it can be used on face and body.

CeraVe Hyaluronic Acid Serum

New from CeraVe, this fast-absorbing serum contains hyaluronic acid, which is a humectant and works like a sponge, drawing in water and boosting hydration levels for up to 24 hours. Hydrated skin = healthy, glowy skin. It can be used alone, but I layer it underneath moisturiser and SPF. It can even double up as a makeup base.

CeraVe Moisturising Cream

If you want instant hydration that lasts all-day long, this face and body moisturiser is the one for you. The non-greasy formula sinks into skin quickly so you won’t get trapped inside your clothes post-shower. The rich, cream texture leaves limbs feeling silky soft.

CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser

This cleanser is best for dry, rough skin on your body. It’s also suitable for keratosis pilaris – often called “chicken skin” – which can be identified as patches of rugged, bumpy skin caused by a build up of trapped keratin in hair follicles. It foams up very gently, exfoliates using salicylic acid and hydrates and moisturises with hyaluronic acid and ceramides.

CeraVe AM Facial Moisturising Lotion

If you’re after an easy daytime moisturiser, look no further than this. With broad spectrum SPF 25, it protects skin as it moisturises with ceramides, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide. It’s also oil-free and non-comedogenic, which means it’s less likely to clog pores.
