Beauty at this year’s Met Gala sure was wild. Or should we say, futuristic? Here are some memorable makeup moments from fashion’s biggest night out.
Met Gala 2016 Makeup Breakdown
This years’s Met Gala theme was Manus vs Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. All of the invitees — actors, musicians, models, and socialites — stepped up their game with hi-tech fashion and jaw-dropping, Metropolis-inspired beauty looks. Keep scrolling to see our favorite looks of the night.
Emma Roberts
Take the cue from Scream Queen, Emma Roberts: You can never go wrong with bold brows and smudgy purple shimmery eyes.
Emma Watson
Real-life Belle, Emma Watson, kept it simple with full brows, a bronzey eye look and nude lips.
Jennifer Hudson
Know anyone who can do a smokey-winged eye and purple lipstick better than Jennifer Hudson? Yeah, we didn’t think so.
Jourdan Dunn
Jourdan Dunn went with a smokey monochromatic silver look.
Kate Upton
YASSS, Kate Upton! All-black waterline, dramatic lashes and nude, glossy lips? Well-played, girl.
Kerry Washington
Fuchsia hair and emerald smokey eyes was just too overwhelming for Kerry Washington. Overall, not our favorite look.
Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian was able to keep up with other attendees. But one question: where are her eyebrows?
Kylie Jenner
I wonder if Kylie Jenner is wearing a new shade from her forever-sold-out Kylie Lip Kit. Hmmm…
Ciara
Ciara did not hold back with her silver hair and smokey eyes. She looks stunning, doesn’t she?
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift went for a dramatic vampy look that fell along the lines of her newly-adopted grunge style. I wonder what lipsticks she’s wearing… If you know, can you tell me?
Beyonce
Queen B’s post-Lemonade appearance could not be more haunting for “Becky with the good hair.” Beyonce looked gorgeous in a sleek, emerald smokey eye and nude lips.
Kristen Stewart
Yasss, Kristen Stewart! Finally, a futuristic look! We are loving the robot-chic eye makeup. Where can we get this for ourselves?!
Lily Aldridge
Would you dare to wear gold eyebrows like Lily Aldridge? This look was said to be inspired by Dior’s Spring 2014 show.
Zendaya
Zendaya put a modern twist on ’70s bowl-bob and we are loving it! She paired this bold ‘do with a smokey eye that stunned.
Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj is winging everything! Spread those wings and fly, girl.
Katy Perry
Our favorite Katy Perry went bold with matte black lipstick and neon lavender eyeshadow. She also sported blue eyelashes and blue eyeliner on her waterline for a truly futuristic-goth look. Could this be the next big look? If so, can we keep our eyebrows, at least?
Claire Danes
And, last but not least, Claire Danes! She went with a simple bright red lip and princess updo hairstyle.
But what was way more intriguing about her look was her LED-lit gown by Zac Posen.
While we can all agree that most of the attendees looked great, credit really goes to the makeup artists and hairstylists whose creativity were the true stars of the night.
