We loved it, you loved it, now here’s how to achieve Olivia Munn’s Red Carpet & After Party Oscars 2016 makeup looks.
Olivia Munn Oscars 2016 Makeup Tutorial
Olivia Munn’s makeup for the Oscars red carpet was simple, yet stunning. Blame the Satsumaimo Japanese sweet potatoes for inspiring Olivia Munn to flaunt her glowing, wrinkle-free skin by opting for a simple hairdo and orange lip (then again, we would do the same if our skin naturally glowed as if illuminated by moondust).
Today, with the help of celebrity makeup artist, Johny Saade, and editor, Lila Gray, we’re going to show you how to recreate Olivia Munn’s red carpet look with a neutral eye and bold orange lip, as well as her After Party look with forest green eye makeup and a nude lip.
Both looks are easy to recreate and, better yet, even easier to transition into. Keep scrolling for the step-by-step tutorial!
Red Carpet Look
Step 1. Your Base
Prep the skin with your go-to moisturizer. The one used here was Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. Follow up your moisturizer with primer (Benefit The Porefessional Primer) and foundation (Luminous Self Foundation).
For the tutorial, we started Lila off with a base. That way, we could focus on the really important stuff, like the eye makeup and lip!
Step 2. Brows
Brush up your brow hairs, then fill in your brows, being sure to focus on the outer part of the brow and then move inwards with light, quick strokes that mimic the appearance of hair. Here, Johny uses Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer.
Step 3. Eyes
Prime eyes with Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Minor Sin. Use a flat brush to pat the primer onto the lid.
Using a flat brush to pick up the bronze-brown eyeshadow from the Charlotte Tilbury Eyeshadow Quad in Golden Goddess, apply it over the lid and on the lower lash-line.
Taking the darker shade from the Cordura Duo by NARS, apply it on the outer corner of the eye to add depth.
Line the waterline with a skin-tone colored eyeliner to open up the eyes. In this tutorial, we used NARS Eyeliner in Rue Bonaparte.
Using a thin eyeliner brush, apply eyeliner right above the lash line. You don’t want the line to be visible, you want to add darkness and definition to the lashes.
We used Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Black, but feel free to use your favorite gel or liquid eyeliner.
Curl the lashes and apply IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara. According to Johny, all you need is one swipe of this formula to get thick, long, movie star lashes.
After applying mascara, glue in your falsies. To add depth to this simple look, we used Ardell 150 Black False Eyelashes and applied them as close to the lash line as possible. When the glue dries up, apply eyeliner or black eyeshadow over it.
Retouch your gel eyeliner if need be and voila, your lashes are ready to be batted at the camera.
Step 4. Cheeks
Contour below the cheekbones, along the jawlines, neck, temples, and sides of the nose. To get that film star glow we used Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar&Glow (this product is a must-have for celebrity makeup artists and beauty editors everywhere).
Apply a beige concealer under the eyes and clean the edges. Set it with a translucent powder.
Apply highlighter above the cheekbones and on the inner corner of the eyes. You can use the highlighter portion of the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar&Glow or your favorite highlighter.

Finish the cheeks with Chanel blush in Frivole; buff it over the cheekbones.
At this point, re-apply mascara to connect the natural lash to your falsies.
Step 5. Lips
Take Make Up For Ever Aqua Lipline 3C or another nude lipliner and outline the lips. Clean the edges with your concealer brush.
Apply Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Persimmon over the liner.
Fun Fact: orange lipstick looks great on olive skin tones with warm undertones.
Tips: Be meticulous when applying a bold lip color. This is best done with a lip brush as you have more control over the color.
Also, be sure to always match the color of your blush to the color of your cheeks. For example, orange lipstick should be paired with a blush with orange undertones; pink blush with pink lipstick, etc.
After Party Look
Step 1. Make that Transition
Remove the orange lipstick and eyeshadow with a makeup remover wipe. Pat your Beauty Blender over the lips to further neutralize the color.
Step 2. Eyes
Using Chanel Stylo Waterproof Eye Color Pencil in Pacific Green, apply it on the waterline. Then take Chanel Stylo Eyeshadow in Olivine and, with a flat brush, smudge the color along the lower lash line.
Step 3. Blush
Apply a cream blush on your cheeks, one like Rituel de Fille in Love Sick, and blend it with a Beauty Blender.
Step 4. Lips
Fill in the lips with Make Up For Ever Aqua Lipline in 3C. Apply a nude color over the lips. For this, we used Jouer Lip Cream in Melon and topped it with Lorac Alter Ego Lip Gloss.
