We loved Phase 1, but here’s what we really think about Glossier’s Phase 2 set.

Product Review: Glossier Phase 2 Set

By now, you’re already aware of our deep, abiding love for Glossier at Makeup Tutorials. We dig the community vibe the brand cultivates, the packaging is next level cute and, of course, there’s the incredible products they produce. They’re paraben and cruelty-free, made in North America, effective and easy-to-use. Immediate Holy Grail status.

Phase 1, which we wrote about here, has been in our medicine cabinets since it launched in 2014 and our skin has thanked us ever since. This past March, the Glossier team released Phase 2, a make-up focused set that includes a Stretch Concealer, Generation G Lipstick and Boy Brow— and we couldn’t wait to get our hands on it.

Stretch Concealer

As they say on the Glossier website, most concealers “set to a stiff, flat, dry finish—a dead giveaway that you’re wearing it” which is the exact opposite of what any woman wants when they’re trying to cover up those Gucci-sized under eye bags.

The stretch concealer is so named because it’s made with “elastic micro waxes” that literally stretches onto your skin, rather than caking on top of it. It’s creamy and super-blendable but gives awesome coverage. It doesn’t flake or feel dry and lasts all day.

Generation G

Glossier released four different lipstick shades for their Phase 2 set: Cake, Like, Crush and Jam. I opted for Crush, a punchy pinkish-red that brightens up your whole face the minute you put it on.

Generation G is sheer, matte and buildable, all in one. It may sound too good to be true, but trust me— at first swipe, the color is noticeable but subdued. Once you start layering, the color deepens to something much more dramatic and fades to a faint, juice-stain as the day goes on. It settles somewhere between a balm and a lipstick so you can apply it without using a mirror which scores major points in my book.

The only issue I’ve found after using my Generation G for a little over a month is that the packaging is a little cheap. I’m not hard on my products but the lipstick has flown (literally flown) out of the bullet multiple times just by me opening the cap.

Boy Brow

Who else is still grappling with the after-effects of their tweezing traumas of the ’90s? As a teen, I plucked my beautiful brows into oblivion and twenty years later I’m still sitting in front of the mirror, willing my hair to grow back.

Until that happens, thankfully, I’ve got Boy Brow in my make-up bag. The pomade-like texture, eyebrow-hair sized wand and light tint is the ultimate triumvirate in brow grooming. It leaves your brows looking full, filled-in and natural— total game changer.

Phase 2 is basically the toolkit to get that elusive effortless, glowy, no make-up make-up look that’s perfect for summertime. Plus the pink bubble wrap pouches that come with the kit work perfectly as beach-friendly purses!
