The Makeup Eraser is no joke. Here are the pros, cons, and features of the newest makeup remover to hit the shelves.

Makeup Tutorials’ Product Review: Makeup Eraser

I will admit that when I was first asked to try the Makeup Eraser, I was a little (unjustifiably) nervous. The Makeup Eraser is far removed from your average makeup remover wipes, but I had had such bad experiences with said wipes in the past I was left shellshocked and overly meticulous about what makes contact with my face. So the thought of adding something new and foreign–even if it is a fancy washcloth–was a little nerve-wracking. Then I put the Eraser to my face and the second that plush cotton terry made contact with my tender skin, I knew it was love at first circular motion-swipe.

What is the Makeup Eraser?

The Makeup Eraser is a makeup removal cloth that only requires water to remove all of your makeup. And I’m talking the most stubborn, waterproof, long-wearing makeup on the market. With some warm water and gentle handling, the Makeup Eraser will remove all traces of your makeup while buffing your skin to smooth, porcelain perfection. This magical makeup remover comes in various colors–pink, blue, black, and red–and is made with the creamiest poly/silk fabric blend that’s softer than a baby’s bottom. The first thing you’ll notice when you hold the Makeup Eraser is the quality and care put into creating the product. It’s so well-crafted that everything down to the stitching has been precisely thought out which is great for those who use makeup on a daily basis, i.e. me.

Judgement Day is Here

Before using your Makeup Eraser you have to wash it, but before all you self-professed lazy girls groan in dismay, know that you can wash yours in the sink like I did (#lazygirlhacks). Taking some organic hand wash and piping hot water, I gave mine a good scrub down and made sure every inch of it was clean. Then the moment of the big reveal arrived. Squeezing out the excess water, I slowly put the cloth to my face and started making slow, circular motions to remove my makeup.

My first thought? HOLY S**T, this is incredible. The Makeup Eraser itself feels like silk and does a hell of a job taking off every trace of makeup. I was wearing a full face of makeup that day–BB cream, blush, mascara, eyeliner, and highlighter–and after a few swipes looked up in the mirror to see a bare, better than #IWokeUpLikethis face. Because the Makeup Eraser has two sides–one to remove, the other to exfoliate–it’s the perfect all-in-one treatment for removing impurities and sloughing off dead skin cells, therefore prepping your skin the right way for cleansing. The cloth is large enough to massage both sides of your face at once and will leave your skin smooth and, something I definitely did not expect, radiant. After one use, my skin looked healthier and more even which is way more than I ever received from my former makeup remover. Yeah, you read that right: former.

What I really liked about the Makeup Eraser is that it forces you to take the time to slow down and care for yourself. While you could very well remove your  makeup in one swipe, the luxurious feel of this cloth turns what would have once been a mundane chore into a practice of self-care and -love. With the Makeup Eraser in hand, I wasn’t rushing through my bedtime skincare routine. Instead, I found myself taking things slowly–deep breaths and all–and giving my skin the TLC it deserves.

CONS
