There’s a reason Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser is considered a classic: it works.

Makeup Product Review: Pond’s Cold Cream Deep Cleanser

Pond’s Cold Cream is a personal favorite of both mine and aestheticians around the world.  A Filipino Congresswoman and beauty icon, Lucy Torres-Gomez, once said in an interview that while the bulk of her beauty kit consists of expensive products, Pond’s Cold Cream is the only favorite of hers that she consistently goes back to. Apparently, it’s responsible for her skin looking so damn youthful and flawless. She learned about the product from her mother who learned about it from her grandmother. Needless to say, any product that is able to skip generations and still be considered HG–especially in today’s day and age when beauty products can practically fly you to the moon and back given major innovations–is worth trying in our book.

I use Pond’s Cold Cream as a moisturizing makeup remover. Back when I was first starting to learn how to take care of my skin, this was the first product I came across and once I tried it, I knew there was no going back. Before you judge me for not trying other makeup removers before raving about this one, know that I did and, sooner or later, they either failed me or I grew to be very disappointed with them. Some were too drying for my skin while others left a greasy residue that would result in breakouts and irritation. So yeah, I stuck to what works and this is it.

The Cold Cream is a rich, deep cleanser that leaves skin clean and moisturized, thus transforming the overall feel of your skin to one that is supple and smooth.

Packaging

Pond’s Cold Cream packaging.

While the packaging is cute, it can be a bit unhygienic since you’re left with no other choice but to dip your fingers into the jar and scoop the product out. Unless, of course, you use a facial mask brush. My only complaint is that this cleanser doesn’t come in a bottle with a pump applicator, but should.

Tip: To avoid double dipping, use a spatula, clean makeup brush, or cotton bud to scoop cream from the container.

How to Use It

Massage the cream onto your face for at least a minute before wiping it off with either a Makeup Eraser, cotton balls, or pads. (Massaging the skin will improve its circulation, resulting in a brighter, rosier complexion). Do not use toilet paper or facial tissue (ever) to wipe it off. It’ll feel like sandpaper and is not good for your skin.

Does It Work?

As for how effective this product is, I’d give it two thumbs up. This is one of those rare cases where the product description is aligned with the results. I use it as a makeup remover, wipe it off with a cotton ball and wash my face afterward to remove any residue.

This cleanser will take every bit of your makeup off, even waterproof or long-wearing formulas, and will leave your skin feeling softer. With regular use, you’ll notice a diminished appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Texture, Feel, & Smell

While it feels greasy, I would like to remind first-time users that the product moisturizes your skin, instead of sitting on top of it in a thick, greasy layer. The texture could take some getting used to, especially if you have oily skin.

It smells great–clean and fresh.

Is it Worth It?

Price: Under $5

Totally worth it. For under five bucks, you get 60 ml of a classic beauty product, a clean face and youthful-looking skin.

Would I Re-Purchase?

Let’s just say this is a beauty product I can’t live without!
