Kick off 4th of July with this makeup tutorial that’ll make your day and night pop with style and glam!
Easy 4th of July Makeup Tutorial
It’s 4th of July once more and I know, everyone in the country is looking forward to this occasion. Who isn’t? You get to express your patriotic side today. Why not through your makeup, right?
To show your patriotism, you just have to focus on three patriotic colors – red, white, and blue. It’s a holiday and it just means – you should have fun! So you might as well do it and try experimenting with these poppin’ colors like they’re fireworks.
Super Simple Day Time Look a.k.a The Angel’s Look for the 4th of July
At the start of the tutorial, LustreLux has already applied her foundation, concealer, and sunscreen. Make sure to put on sunscreen especially if your itinerary involves sun, sun, sun! for the day. LustreLux used CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 30 and for the body, you may use any sunscreen which you should be sure to reapply as often as you can for maximum protection.
Get your Eyebrows filled – a must!
For your eyebrows, be sure to use a heavy-duty product since you’ll be out all day. When you say heavy duty, it means it has ‘proof’ as its surname: waterproof, sweatproof and any other ‘proof’ it can be since you’ll be wearing the same base all day. LustreLux used Nyx Eyebrow Gel in Brunette in this tutorial.
Fill in brows on the tail first since this is where you add more color than the rest of your brows then move your way towards your inner brow.
For the lighter part – on the inner side, you may use pencil eyebrows as this is easier to control. In the tutorial, Nyx Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe was used. Apply it on the inner part using small upward strokes – imitating small hairs and brush it off lightly to soften harsh lines.
Add glow!
For the glow, you can use cream or liquid highlighter – in the tutorial LustreLux used Sonia Kashuk Highlighting Stick in shade Sparkling Sands – a really great, affordable highlighter. Gently pat with your fingertip and tap it on top of the cheekbones towards the hairline. Apply along your clavicles too to make you look like sculpted.
You can totally leave just the cream but applying powder is taking it to the next level. LustreLux used Sonia Kashuk Chic Luminosity Bronzer/Highlighter Duo. Using the peachy pink shade, apply it lightly on top of your cheekbones in a C shape manner towards your brows and on top of your clavicles too. Using your fingertips, pat it gently on top of your Cupid’s Bow and on the tip of your nose.
Contour lightly
Using a fluffy brush, contour along your cheekbones and hairline. e.l.f. Cosmetics
Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder was used by LustreLux in this tutorial.
Put on some blush!
Using the same e.l.f. Cosmetics Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder, apply blusher to your cheekbones lightly. The concept of this look is making everything simple so you don’t need to make it so obvious like you’ve just seen your crush.
Touch up a little bit more.
Using a fluffy brush, you can add a heavier highlight on the forehead, above the cheekbones and clavicles. You may totally skip this if you think it’s unnecessary. This can be done using the same Kashuk Chic Luminosity Bronzer/Highlighter Duo.
Keep your Eyes Simple
Your eyes will be your base throughout the day so it’s important to just leave it simple. In fact, super simple that you just have to do one thing: Curl your eyelashes. Yes, no eye makeup, no mascara. Just curlers. Curling your eyelashes will give you a little bit of lift without wearing eye makeup.
Everything Nude
For the lips, keep everything nude and light – swipe a nude gloss or lipstick to finish the look. Here, LustreLux used Nyx Intense Butter Gloss.
Time to add some color to your 4th of July!
Eyes – simple with a little bit of flick.
LustreLux jazzed up with the eyes with Nyx Matte Liquid Eyeliner. Start with the wing part since it’s the most critical phase in doing your cat’s eye – start with the outer corner and aim for a short wing and a little bit angled for an added fun. Then draw it in towards the lid. Fill in the wing completely then proceed to the lid part.
Put on mascara on your previously curled eyelashes – in the tutorial, she used Nyx Mascara.
To complete the eye of this look, she used Ardell Lashes Demi Wispies – LustreLux’ most recommended false eyelashes as this is the most comfortable false eyelashes she’s ever encountered. Swipe on the glue to your real lashes then stick the false lashes. Add mascara to make it look natural.
Bold Red Lip for that pop of color
For your guide, fill in lips with a red lip liner first before swiping the lipstick. LustreLux used Nyx Kitten Heels – a hot fire red lipstick which is so perfect for a patriotic color. The color just pops!
Add some more colors for a Patriotic Theme for your 4th of July!
Let your Eyes do the work
Since you’ve already done the bold lip, it’s time for your eyes to be in the limelight. Curl the false lashes a little bit more to pump up the volume and add mascara.
By using a popping blue shade, you will now complete your patriotic makeup. Apply a blue eyeshadow or eye pen – Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen was used in the tutorial – apply it on your lower waterline.
For a smokey eye effect, use Pixi Mesmerizing Mineral Palette in the color Silver Sky and apply to your actual lash line to diffuse the blue pen you applied earlier making it look a bit smokier. Using the same Pixi palette, add some highlight to the corner of your eyes to make it look awake and poppin’.
Since that completes the eye makeup without applying eyeshadow, LustreLux just contoured her nose to make it appear chicer using the same e.l.f. Cosmetics Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder. Apply it on both sides of your nose.
Ta-dah!
And ta-da! That completes your three different looks for the 4th of July. Adding some color of patriotism to join in the occasion is just so fun! All you have to do now is go out there, have a blast and watch some fireworks with friends, family or beau! Make this year’s 4th of July celebration an interesting one!
