Have you trashed all your tank tops and get all covered up because of dark armpits? Well, you’re not alone in this ordeal since millions of other women across the globe feel the same way, including me. However, there are many ways to whiten dark underarms and I’m here to help you out.

Discoloration or darkening of the underarms is not a result of a medical or skin condition. When you have dark underarms, you have most likely been exposed to certain factors and elements that contributed to the condition. Usually, main causes of dark armpits include shaving, excessive sweating, use of antiperspirants, accumulation of dead skin cells, and reduced ventilation in the underarms.

Lighten Up! Tips To Whiten Dark Underarms

There are many products on the market that promise to whiten dark underarms. However, these products may seem too good to be true. Aside from the fact that they may cost more than your budget, they may not be as effective as they promise to be. Well, ladies, today is your lucky day because I’m going to discuss ways on how to whiten dark underarms without breaking your bank. Read on!

1. Potato

To whiten dark underarms, use potato slices and rub it on the affected area. Potato contains a mild acidic property that is a great bleaching agent, but will not cause skin irritation like other bleaching agents. I tried this one, it’s effective!

2. Lemon

Lemons are natural skin lighteners and I know a lot of you know this already. Well, as much as it has been discussed on the internet, I will never get tired of mentioning how I love lemons. They contain natural antimicrobial and exfoliating properties that help whiten dark underarms.

3. Cucumber

Just like potatoes, cucumbers contain natural bleaching properties that help whiten underarms. To use cucumbers, just rub a slice on your underarms twice daily until you achieve the result you want.

4. Baking Soda

One of the major causes of dark underarms is the accumulation of dead skin cells. Baking soda is a natural exfoliant that helps get rid of dead skin cells. It’s a natural skin lightener that does not irritate the skin like others on the market. I use baking soda not only on my armpits, I also use it on my face as a mask.

5. Sugar Scrub

Sugar is a very good exfoliant. It actually helps in removing dead skin cells, revealing whiter and lighter underarms. To make a scrub, you can mix sugar with coconut oil or olive oil and scrub it on your underarms once a day.

6. Pumice Stone

This lightweight and abrasive volcanic rock can help exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin. It’s perfect to whiten dark underarms especially if you’re not into using veggies or fruits. I suggest you be careful when you use a pumice stone, though, it can be pretty abrasive and cause redness.

7. Milk

Milk contains vitamins and fatty acids that work together to whiten dark underarms. It softens and lightens the skin while locking in moisture. While I love the idea of using milk on my body I try to steer clear away from spoiling milk, it’s just me though, you can totally do this if you’re comfortable using it.

8. Coconut Oil

9. Waxing

Skip shaving and start waxing. Shaving leaves part of the hair under the skin, making the underarms look darker than usual. To prevent this, opt for waxing instead.

10. Skip Deodorants

Deodorants and antiperspirants contain strong chemicals that may darken the armpits. To whiten dark underarms, ditch your deodorants especially if you’re not suffering from body odor. I stopped using deodorants! I use baking soda, it’s super effective in controlling sweat and the great thing about it is my underarm doesn’t smell at all.
