Colourpop cosmetics have brought us some of our most loved colors for the lips and eyes in the past few years and if – like me, you are a fan, then you must be looking at the Colourpop fall collection too.

Back in September I was going through their website and saw their release of the Colourpop fall collection items and with just one look I knew I had to immediately get my hands on it. I was able to get the first few pieces of the items and I say this as a disclaimer because now, there’s apparently a whole treasure trove of Fall Edit collection items. I wish my eager self could’ve waited a bit more so I could get dibs on the new shadows in the collection, but I have what I have and this is what I’ll show you today.

Colourpop Fall Collection 2016 Review | Is It Something You Should Have?

I’m going to start by showing you the items I got off of the Colourpop Fall collection, it’s quite a few but it’s a good thing Colourpop cosmetics are reasonably priced, I didn’t mind grabbing the whole collection when it first came out.

Colourpop Fall Collection 2016 Review | Is It Something You Should Have?

Pros

  • Good Price for quality
  • Fall Colors include a light shade
  • The collection is a variety of different products

Cons

  • Some colors are similar to each other
  • If you already have a few Colourpop matte lip colors, you might find that your darker reds are similar to the ones in the fall edit collection

Packaging

There isn’t anything special about the packaging of Colourpop’s Fall Edit collection, it’s basically the usual packaging which I have no problems with, there’s just no special packaging for the holiday whatsoever. I love that the items are in full sizes, of course for the regular price as well, because you know how sometimes companies come up with smaller versions of their products and repackage it for a different price range like the Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow holiday palettes.

Product and Swatches

I want to talk about the products I love out of the Colourpop fall collection and then move on to the rest. I’ve always loved Colourpop Lip Pencils and I feel the same with the Dukes Pencil. It’s a beautiful dark plum color you can wear in the day or night and as always, the formula is beautiful. It’s creamy, it glides on easily, and it doesn’t run.

Dukes is not my favorite shade, but the saturation of the color in the Lippie Stix formula is a win. It’s a deep plum color that embodies a haute mood for any day, perfect for a gloomy weather, and in my honest opinion it defines the Colourpop fall collection.

Tang Swatch | Colourpop Fall Collection 2016 Review | Is It Something You Should Have?

I love the Colourpop fall collection Super Shock shadows next, both Stereo and Tang complement each other really well for a look you can wear in the day and bring into the night. Tang is “a soft dusty plum in a matte finish” according to the website and it works as a beautiful transition color or color all over the lid to give your eyes just a hint of a fall vibe.

Stereo Supershock Shadow | Colourpop Fall Collection 2016 Review | Is It Something You Should Have?

Stereo Swatch | Colourpop Fall Collection 2016 Review | Is It Something You Should Have?

Stereo is a burgundy color with copper and violet duo chrome pigments that transfer as a metallic shadow. This color would suit a wide range of skin tone but I see it complimenting dark-skinned ladies best.

My next favorite color in the Colourpop fall collection, well in the items that I have so far, is Times Square. It’s a perfect nude color with the least amount of pink to it so it dries to this beautiful nude blush matte color on the lips.

Fall Edit Lips Swatch | Colourpop Fall Collection 2016 Review | Is It Something You Should Have?

Moving on to the rest of the items that are a little mediocre to me: Sookie which is a Plum Glossy lip color, and Hutch which is a deep burgundy color in Ultra Satin finish. Both of these colors look very similar to each other and they both appear glossy on the lips so there is no need to layer them together.

Verdict:

If you have similar colors in your kit already, I feel like it’s not necessary to get the Colourpop fall collection. You can easily create deep plum shades by mixing colors together. However, if you want to add these colors to your collection, then I highly recommend the Colourpop Fall Edit collection. They perform especially well for prices that are friendly on the pocket.
