Got the stinky hair syndrome? I got you covered. Here are some hair products that are known to be great in easing your worries!

Today we’re going to talk about something sensitive . . . something that’s actually common but is a taboo for us, beauty junkies. It’s called the stinky hair syndrome. *cue Twilight Zone music* Okay, I am going to let that sink in first in one . . . two . . . three . . . done. All right, a lot of women do have stinky hair. Once in a while, I experience that too, and I share your sentiment that it’s embarrassing as hell. No gorgeous makeup or chic clothing can cover up the problem. So let me help you ease your worries by giving you some hair products you can use to deal with your situation.

Say Bye to Stinky Hair With These Great Hair Products

What causes stinky hair? There’s actually a long list for that, including really oily hair, dandruff build-up , and bacteria growth. The hair products here aim to address all of those. These products are easy to use and are available online and offline. The more access you have to these products, the more you’re encouraged to deal with your hair dilemma right away.

1. Maple Holistics Degrease Shampoo

It’s normal for your scalp to produce oil. How else can you have that sleek, shiny natural hair? What isn’t normal is if it produces excessive sebum (or natural body oil). It creates a “healthy” environment for bacteria to thrive and contribute to an awfully-smelling hair!

Maple Holistics Degreasing Shampoo works against too much oil production while restoring the scalp’s ideal pH balance. This is 100 percent natural with lemon essence, so you’ll feel healthier and cleaner while your hair smells fresher!

2. Tru Moroccan Clarifying Shampoo

|

If you can wear vegan makeup, why don’t you use vegan shampoo too? Tru Moroccan Clarifying Shampoo, though, it is more than just your regular ‘poo. It works similarly like Maple Holistics Degreasing Shampoo, including treating an itchy scalp, but it’s a lot better to use if you already have a color-treated hair. So you don’t only resolve your stinky hair but also keep your beautifully colored locks.

3. Dove Refresh + Care Invigorating Shampoo

Who doesn’t know about Dove? I super love their Love Your Body campaign. I think we need that badly in this day and age where you feel as if everyone has the right to judge you! 🙁 But I digress. This is probably one of the best dry shampoos I’ve ever tried. Aside from the fact it smells really good, it creates the illusion of more hair volume. Best of all, it removes excess oil. It’s incredibly cheap too! It’s a great product to bring with you to your travels or even to work.

4. Tresemme Fresh Start Volumizing Shampoo

Do you know the secret to a gorgeous-looking hair on the runway? One of them is Tresemme. It leaves a powdery residue on your hair to add more volume. It also absorbs excess oil and leaves you with a citrus-smelling hair. The price is a great advantage too!

5. Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo

|

Aside from the fact it’s Neutrogena, which is a brand that can do no wrong when it comes to skincare and haircare products, this one is perfect for ALL HAIR TYPES. Yup, so whether you wake up with a frizzy hair or you decide to color your hair later, it doesn’t really matter! It can handle the abuse, so to speak. And it removes around 90 percent of your hair residue from all the products you’ve applied to your scalp. Awesome, right?

6. Therapro Mediceuticals TheraRx

|

This shampoo is usually recommended by dermatologists if you have scalp folliculitis, which is basically inflammation of the follicles. The condition can leave you with a painful, itchy, and red scalp, as well as lesions and pustules. Therapro Mediceuticals TheraRx removes all kinds of bacteria, yeast, and other microorganisms that may be causing the inflammation.

But this is a strong shampoo, so it’s best to have your condition diagnosed first before you consider using this one.

7. Sulfur8 Medicated Regular Formula Anti-Dandruff Hair and Scalp Conditioner

|

Dandruff can definitely cause some stinky hair, and itchy scalp can only make your situation even worse. *runs and hides* If you have both, one of your options is Sulfur8 Medicated Shampoo and Conditioner. And because it’s a conditioner, it leaves sheen and volume to your hair. Some even claim they notice good hair regrowth! Nevertheless, since this contains sulfur, which can have contraindications, see your doctor before you using this.

8. Desert Essence Organic Lavender And Tea Tree Oil

|

Tea tree oil is like the holy grail for all hair problems. It has a long list of benefits for your scalp, including getting rid of bacteria, nourishing your hair from the roots, and treating an itchy scalp. It’s incredibly easy to apply too! You can do this once a day, even before you sleep. Just mix a part of the tea tree oil and perhaps a carrier oil like jojoba or coconut (which you can use for hair mask as well), dip a cotton into the mixture, and rub it on your scalp. That’s it! A really easy and quick nighttime hair ritual.

9. Head And Shoulders Clinical Strength Shampoo

|

This shampoo is great if you have seborrheic dermatitis, which is basically a scalp infection characterized by the appearance of red rashes. It can be caused by a whole lot of reasons from stress to genes, yeast, depression, and poor immune system. Either way, it can lead to excessive production of dandruff, which in turn can contribute to stinky hair. Head and Shoulders Clinical Strength Shampoo contains selenium sulfide, which a potent dandruff treatment.

10. Selsun Blue Medicated Maximum Strength Dandruff Shampoo

|

This is pretty similar to Head and Shoulders as it deals with itching and bad-smelling hair caused by dandruff and skin condition. It contains only 1 percent selenium sulfide, so you don’t need a doctor’s prescription to buy this. The menthol helps keep your scalp feeling cool and refreshed, as well as smelling great.

11. Baking Soda

I have to include this on the list because it works – at least for me 🙂 I have been doing this for a few days now and enjoying great results. The baking soda is excellent in stripping off hair residues and excess oils while getting rid of the stinky smell (remember how we also use baking soda to remove fridge smells?). However, since it can dry the hair eventually, you need to pair it with apple cider vinegar as a rinse. This one restores the hair’s pH balance and keeps your hair manageable. Don’t worry about the smell since you’re not going to use a lot.

While it may seem as if baking soda is expensive, you don’t use a lot of it for your hair. You can mix one part water, one part baking soda and place the mixture in a spray container. Then you combine one part water and one part ACV in another container. Besides, you can do many other things with these products.

Need another hack for your stinky hair? Then this is the video you need. You can now remove the smell from your hair without washing. How cool!

Are you always conscious about your stinky hair? I understand, but please know there are solutions available. 🙂 You can try the products I’ve shared above. Also, the best hair experts are working hard to give you hair products that can address your problem. Nevertheless, always choose safety above everything else. Talk to your dermatologist to get the right diagnosis and discuss these products.
