Finding the perfect lipstick shades for dark skin, fair skin or medium skin tone is not always an easy task. Now that I’m done with my guide for finding the right lipstick shades for fair skin tone, check out my list for women of color.

Lipstick Shades for Dark Skin You Need In Your Life

It’s annoying how most of the swatches provided by companies do not have a wide range of skin tone swatches, that’s one of the very reasons why it’s not easy to find the perfect match to your skin tone, may it be lipstick, blush, or foundation.

If you’ve been searching for a lipstick to match your dark skin, look no further because I have the essential colors listed for you. I can’t get over how glam these colors are and it’s not even because I picked out rocking colors, it’s just because it’s what looks best on dark skin.

1. Lipstick Shades for Dark Skin: Orange

A good orange lipstick is MAC’s Neon Orange with it’s highly pigmented formula, this will surely accentuate the warmth of dark skin. If you’re sick of using reds, then a neon orange color is the way to go. Use with an uber glam nail art for an extra fab touch!

2. Lipstick Shades for Dark Skin: Plum

Wet n’ Wild’s Sugar Plum Fairy lipstick is a beautiful deep berry color that is rich and flattering for darker skin tones. Totally a fall/winter color so I imagine wearing this will a beautiful winter-inspired nail art like this here.

3. Lipstick Shades for Dark Skin: Magenta

Magenta colors complement dark skin very well because of it’s warm, purple tinge. This tends to complement the olive tones with which medium to darker skin tones generally have.  A good magenta color for your lips is the Too Faced Melted Matte Lips in Unicorn. I love the richness of this product, and I can’t help but think about luxurious glam clothing when I see this.

4. Lipstick Shades for Dark Skin: Purple

Purple hues are a go-to for a lot of women of color, as a makeup artist, I love using colors that lean towards the purple-violet range for dark skin because it is flattering and has a subdued sexiness to it. MAC Smoked purple is a really good shade of dark purple that will compliment almost anyone, not just dark skin.

5. Lipstick Shades for Dark Skin: Bright Red

An opaque bright red color looks gorgeous on darker skin, try to veer away from deep reds and accentuate your beautiful pout by using a bright red hue instead, just like Revlon’s Love is On. Which is totally a color for Valentine’s day and if you haven’t yet a clue as to what to wear, this beautiful color would pair up with any of these Valentine’s Day ensembles.

6. Lipstick Shades for Dark Skin: Vivid Pink

It doesn’t always have to be dark and deep for women of color, in fact, pinks and fuchsia colors look gorgeous on warm and honey colored ladies as these colors compliment the undertones of dark skin really well.

7. Lipstick Shades for Dark Skin: Metallic Copper

|

How beautiful is this shade from Colourpop, it’s a metallic copper color that has a glossy finish. Cheat Code has an ultra shine finish creating a beautiful pout–making it the focal point of the story you’re trying to convey. This is a personal favorite among this list, definitely grabbing me some metallic gloss.
