Fenty Beauty is all the rage at the moment a month after it has launched and I finally have my review about it.

All The Dibs On Fenty Beauty

Rihanna has released a makeup line, Fenty Beauty, and has sent shockwaves across the beauty industry by releasing products that cater to different skin tones. Now I don’t know how much of a shock that comes to you, but being a makeup artist, it’s really nothing new, except that now the commercial market has access to a wider range of skin tone colors!

Pro Filt’r Foundation ($34)

The most popular product when it launched because of the 40-shade release. This foundation is medium coverage and possibly buildable, however judging by how runny it is there is a tendency to move the first layer, so in that sense I recommend, careful thought in application, It also dries down matte so this is definitely not for dry skin as it may feel tight and sometimes itchy once set. It also sets pretty quickly, so you also have to work it as quickly as possible.

Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer ($32)

This primer is a translucent primer that helps in creating a smooth finish to the skin, making fine lines and pores less visible.

Highlighter: Killawatt ($34)

The Killawatt highlighters are cream to powder highlighters that come in different finishes like metallic, shimmer, or microfine finishes. They also come in 6 different shades of which my favorite would be Trophy Wife and Metal Moon. Each different finishes but both are unique and bold. I have to say though that Trophy Wife is a bit of a chunkier texture compared to most highlighters I’ve tried, this is definitely a metallic finish.

Highlighter: Shimmer Skinstick ($25)

These cream to powder shimmer stick comes in 10 shades to match different skin tones, I really love the finishes of these shimmer stick they go on smoothly and is multi-purpose too since I can use this on the eyes as well.

Match Stix Trio ($54)

I have to say Fenty Beauty’s packaging is a winner with the magnetized tubes, and efficiently evident when you sample their Match Stix Trio, which is a combination of concealer, contour, and shimmer sticks for your everyday need to sculpt the face.

Gloss Bomb ($18)

The Gloss Bomb is a high shine universal gloss color in rose gold that flatters different skin tone.

Invisimatte: Blotting Powder ($32)

It really seems to me that Rihanna took the opportunity to cater to women with oily skin or those who live in humid areas and the Invisimatte blotting powder is surely a tool that will help take the shine away as it instantly absorbs shine and makes the pores less visible.

Full-Bodied Foundation Brush ($34)

This is Rihanna’s favorite brush and I can see why. It’s a hybrid between a flat foundation brush and fluffy brush that is perfect for blending foundation and it really is. I think this works best with the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation.

Cheek Hugging Highlight Brush ($32)

I find this brush a bit unnecessary, especially since not all cheekbones are equal, and the fact that the brush would pick up uneven amounts of highlighting powder.

Give your brushes some love by cleaning them thoroughly without breaking their bristles. How? Click the link in the bio to know more!

Precision Makeup Sponge ($16)

This makeup sponge is okay for me, it definitely absorbs product more than I want it to though.

Portable Contour and Conceal Brush ($24)

I love that her product line is thoughtful in this sense, it seems like she’s thought about how portable her tools and makeup can be and I appreciate that. Does that mean, it’s the best out there? Not really most especially since this is such a small brush for the face, it just takes a little bit more effort to spread and blend the contour color.

Portable Highlighter Brush ($24)

This highlighter brush compared to the contour and conceal brush is an angled flat brush to help diffuse that highlight powder.

Portable Touch Up Brush ($24)

This brush is more for touching up with the blotting powder, it’s an angled flat brush also, but fluffier and a bit wider than the highlighter brush.

Invisimatte: Blotting Paper ($16)

Fenty Beauty also released a blotting paper packaged really nicely. I love that this comes in the signature tube packaging of the Fenty Beauty line because a dispenser type packaging making it really portable. It also has a blotting refill sold separately at $10.

Verdict:

I love that Rihanna thought about inclusivity when she launched her line and that her price point isn’t ridiculous considering she’s one of the biggest names in the music industry. I love that her products work and are catered to a wider scope of skin tone, but so far in her first release, I don’t find anything that I need just yet, especially with all the makeup that I already have in my kit. Nothing stands out as a must have or as a beauty innovation that I have to really get my hands on.
