Michael Urie had a “wicked” night. The “Shrinking” actor hosted the 36th annual GLAAD Media Awards on Thursday in Los Angeles, wearing a Christian Siriano-designed outfit inspired by both Urie’s 2019 Met Gala look and the Jon M. Chu blockbuster musical.

“I love ‘Wicked’ and I love pink and green more than ever because of it — they got me hook, line and sinker,” Urie told WWD.

The actor came up with the idea of wearing a “Wicked”-inspired look with his stylist, Michael Fusco. The duo wanted to create something special for Urie’s first entrance and pay tribute to Cynthia Erivo, who stars in the movie and was honored at the GLAAD Awards with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award for her efforts in enhancing visibility and fostering acceptance of LGBTQIA+ individuals and issues.

The outfit featured a half-and-half design with a shimmering pink and emerald green color scheme, nodding to “Wicked” characters Glinda and Elphaba. The top half was a tailored suit jacket transitioning into a flowing ball gown-style skirt.
