Eyelashes are probably one of the most abused parts of the body when it comes to beauty and makeup. Coincidentally, wanting to know how to grow eyelashes is a natural inclination for a lot of us who may have found that our lashes are getting sparse.
Eyelashes are also such an underrated part of our beauty regimen. No look is complete without grooming the eyelash, whether it’s with mascara, false lashes, or eyelash extensions. Any of these would cause your eyelashes to thin out.

Grow Your Lashes With These Tricks
1. Avoid Eyelash Extensions
Probably the easiest tip to do in this list is to avoid eyelash extensions altogether. I know this could be such a hard thing to do especially for some of us who’ve had eyelash extensions for a long time. If you are though, I know eyelash shedding and thinning is not new to you. So if you wish for thicker and lengthier lashes, start by avoiding extensions.
2. Green Tea
|
Green Tea aside from being a health drink and anti-oxidant, you can also use your steeped green tea bags as a compress for your eyes. Not only does it de-puff your bags but it also, apparently, promotes lash growth. It does this by promoting circulation around the eye area thereby increasing nutrients to your lashes.
3. Rosemary + Castor Oil
Castor oil as a hair serum is probably not new to you, but do you know how it does this? If you don’t, it’s because there is no scientific evidence to back this up. However, Rosemary is scientifically known to stimulate hair growth. By steeping fresh rosemary on heated castor oil for about 10 mins, you will be able to nourish and moisturize your lash area which is what the castor oil does. The rosemary will do the job of promoting hair growth. Just use a clean cotton bud to apply the concoction to your lashes once it’s cooled down.
4. Vitamin B3 + B5
Another way to encourage your eyelashes to grow is to take oral supplements of Vitamin B3 and B5. Niacin or Vitamin B3 is known to promote lash growth while Vitamin B5 nourishes hair allowing it to grow thick and strong. Some of us might be too impatient for delayed gratification and it might not be like how serums are applied locally, but there is actual science behind this.

5. Latisse: Eyelash Growth Serum
|
So far, there is only one eyelash growth serum that is FDA approved and that is Latisse. Although to be fair, the active ingredient for Latisse is actually a drug for glaucoma and most lash serums in the market use cosmetic ingredients that do not require FDA approval.
I will say that Latisse used as an eyelash serum is probably the most effective in this list because bimatoprost ophthalmic solution or the generic name of Latisse is a drug used to treat hypotrichosis. A condition that causes a person to have a lack of eyelash growth. Naturally, drugs have side-effects and Latisse is not an exception. It can range from dryness and irritation to discoloration of the iris.
Reviews of this product have been highly satisfactory, with more than 80% willing to repurchase as shown on the Makeup Alley website.
6. Vitamin E oil

Taking time to nourish and take care of our body and, in this case, eyelashes can do wonders to it. Vitamin E oil is a raved about regimen by many beauty conscious women. It promotes healthy skin and hair. Keeping your eyelashes moisturized with Vitamin E oil may thicken it a little bit because of its nourishing properties. It will also certainly make it stronger and less prone to breakage.
7. Biotin Supplement
|
Biotin is another Vitamin B complex, similar to Vitamin B3 and B5, it promotes healthy hair growth as well. It also strengthens the nails and fortifies the skin. Like other Vitamin B complex, in order to get a noticeable result, Biotin has to be taken as a separate supplement. Most women get results after a month of use and some might take longer, but it is definitely effective in promoting hair growth.
